Our expertise in the planning and movement of large loads for the wind energy industry makes us one of Britain’s leading specialists in this field. We’ve transported towers, nacelles and blades to some of the most challenging sites imaginable, moving massive loads across northern Europe and the UK.
Sophisticated software and meticulous planning enables us to get the tallest, widest, heaviest structures safely to site. We check every inch of the route visually, talk to the police and highways agencies, identify problem areas and find solutions well before any equipment has to be moved. The planning process includes swept path calculations and the use of animated simulations of difficult route sections.
We’ve made large investments in specialist equipment to enable us to transport nacelles up to 85 tonnes and blades 49 metres long. MDF Transport was one of the first haulage companies in the UK to acquire a specialist wind turbine nacelle carrier, a large trailer providing greater flexibility for current and future turbine designs.
Projects on which we’ve provided transport solutions include: Scroby Sands Offshore Windfarm, Norfolk; Forest Moor, Devon; Ness Point, Suffolk; Coldham, Cambridgeshire, and Mynydd Clogau, Wales windfarms.
